Homeschooling in the news

Service Method

One of the things naysayers of homeschooling discuss is that Women particularly are pulled from the *working world* to stay home to homeschool.  Hence by their system, women are of no value to the community.

What they are not aware of is the power of service ministry.  In Acts 9 we read about Tabitha, who served her community so much, that when she died, they begged Paul to resurrect her because of all she has done.

There are many stories of how homeschoolers, because they are home, have taken care of their parents when they were most in need.  Of the growth in their children as they learn to care for the elderly instead of packing them away in insitutions.

Or how homeschoolers will *lend* a teen to a new mom to help with the house and the children while a new mom recovers.  Just the time to bake cookies or bring a meal to someone who is sick is a testimony to homeschooling and to the Love of God.

Many people learn about homeschooling by the Service Method.  It goes hand in hand to the relational method, since we usually reach out to our relatives first.  Our neighbors will also learn about homeschooling through our service to them in their time of need or when we have an extra dozen cookies.

So as the opportunity opens up, consider using the Service Method to reach out to your world.
