Local Conference attracts National
Director
Homeschooling's hot topics and top experts in El Paso this weekend
April 6, 2006, El Paso, TX - This coming
weekend's Homeschooling on the Border conference has attracted a stellar
group of homeschooling experts, including the national director of
Homeschooling Family to Family, Jube Dankworth. Dankworth will be
appearing to speak on the topic of mentoring with two scheduled
appearances at the conference, a joint venture co-sponsored by Southwest
Homeschool Network (SHN) and West El Paso Christian Homeschool
Association (WECHA) which runs from April 6th - 8th.
The topic of mentoring is an essential one to the overall conference
theme of "A Vision for the Future - Where there is no vision the people
shall perish." Dankworth is one of many recognizable homeschooling
figures to appear at the conference which features Debra Bell, author of
"The Ultimate Guide to Homeschooling" as the keynote speaker.
"My presentations 'Mentoring and Me' and 'How to Mentor and still get
dinner on the table' are all about learning to provide the support to
new families that will be essential to meeting Family to Family's goals
over the next few years," says Dankworth.
With almost 400,000 homeschoolers in Texas, homeschool continues to be
the fastest growing educational choice. Homeschooling Family to Family's
goal is to bring in one million more children into homeschooling over
the next four years.
Other workshops at the conference being held at Scottsdale Baptist
Church, 10015 Lockerbie Dr., include: Homeschooling for Military
Families, How to Teach Classic Literature, Homeschooling and the
Hispanic Family, and Homeschooling through High School.
"The Scientific Question - Where Do You Stand?" Conference Preview Night
will be held Thursday, April 6th, at 7:00 p. m this event is free of
charge and open to the public with featured speaker: Jerry Simmons, "Doc
Rock" TV/video personality, creation/scientist teacher, a regional
conference speaker.
